About Me

My name is Blanca Estella Pena and I live in Brownsville, Texas.  I have a daughter and son whom I hope to one day inspire by reaching my ultimate educational goal of completing my graduate studies and getting my Masters in Educational Technology.  I decided a long time ago that I needed to make a decision in life to become someone my family would look up to.  So after many years of working in odd jobs mainly Mexico Maquiladores, I realized that the only way I would be successful was to go to college.  At the age of 35 years old, I started my college educational journey and have never looked back.

In 2006, I received my Bachelors in Applied Technology (BATS) and I became an Academic Advisor for the School of Education at UTB/TSC.  What an honor to work for the University that has guided my future and gave me a better life than I had ever hoped for.  In 2008 I finished the ACP program and started working at James Pace High School as a Technology Teacher and continued my studies towards my Master in Educational Technology with the MTT certification block.  I look forward to studying hard and learning from my professors and my classmates while I complete the final chapter of my educational goal.

The Purpose of my E-Portfolio

My e-Portfolio is designed to organize, store and exhibit my course work and professional research and growth as I complete my Master of Education in Educational Technology with the MTT certification at the University of Texas at Brownsville. The collection of my work will serve as an indicator of my personal and professional growth as an student and future educator. I humbly invite you to check back for updates on my progress and to leave any comments or feedback that you would like to share.

Navigating the E-Portfolio

In order for you to navigate through my e-portfolio, you will need access to a compatible web browser suited for your home computer or laptop like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Firefox.  There are individual projects that may require different software to view documentation like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Excel, Flash Player, Adobe Reader.  In order to view movies you may need to download Quicktime or Adobe Flash player.  The navigation bar located on top of each page will help guide you through my master course work that I have completed and I humbly invite you to browse through it and I hope that it gives you an inside look on what the M.Ed. Program has to offer.

MTT Mission

As a Master Technology Teacher, my mission is to provide professional development, support, and motivation to teachers and administration in educational technology in an effort to bring awareness of the 21st century skills that our students need to become digital learners and prepare them for the new era of the technology job market.   My mission will be to upgrade technology equipment, provide computer lab support, design and develop a technology website with various technology resources to keep teachers, students and parents well connected, motivated, and engaged in the ever changing evolution of digital learning.
